Planning an Antigua Trip: What to Know
Antigua likes to say it has 365 beaches, one for every day of the year. That's marketing, but the point holds: this is an island built around choosing a different stretch of sand each morning rather than sticking to one resort strip. Five to six days works well. That's enough time for a proper beach rotation, a half-day at Nelson's Dockyard and English Harbour (the restored 18th-century naval yard is genuinely worth the visit, not just a photo stop), and a boat trip out to Stingray City or a smaller island like Great Bird Island.
If you're into sailing, plan around Antigua Sailing Week in late April. It's a great time to be there, but hotel prices climb and the harbor areas get busy. Outside of that, December through April is the reliable dry stretch. Renting a car makes sense since the island is compact and roads are decent, but a taxi is fine if you're only doing two or three excursions.
